Good to Know: W Design Recommends

As this year comes to a close, our team has been thinking a lot about the type of content that we want to share with our readers. As we’ve been brainstorming, we have realized that we want to share more of what we love, what is inspiring and resonating with us, and things we hope will resonate with you as well.

Today’s Good to Know is the first installment of this series, which will be going out on Sundays on Instagram and via email! We’re going to be sharing all kinds of things that we recommend, including podcast episodes, music, tv shows, quotes that inspire us, and products that we’re using and loving. And in case you’re wondering, all of our future product roundups will be under the name W Collected, instead of W Design Recommends.

Listen -

Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard & Tristan Harris

This episode, with Tristan Harris from the Social Dilemma documentary talks about the dangers of social media and how to choose the content that you’re ingesting on social media.

Quote

If you’re not paying for the product, you’re the product.”

”It’s the gradual, slight, imperceptible change in our own behavior and perception that is the product.”

”There are only two industries that call their customers ‘users’: illegal drugs and software.

Cassandra Speaks: When Women are the Storytellers, The Human Story Changes

This was a gift from a friend and I pretty much highlighted the whole first part. Lesser explores stories about women (i.e. Adam & Eve) told by men, and what it would look like had women told their own stories. So good!

SAVE -

@buildingwalnutfarm

Angela Wheeler of @buildingwalnutfarm has one of my favorite Instagram accounts. Just look at the sink detail! And the curved opening into the pantry. Simple and layered, a hard combination to pull off.

BUY -

Maelove

Maelove has my favorite mineral sunscreen because it has 18% zinc and it completely invisible. Worth every penny. They sent me some of their products and I can honestly say I am really liking all of them so far, especially the Night Renewer and Exfoliator.

WatcH -

The Forsyte Saga

One of my all-time favorite mini-series, maybe because there is a plot-line involving architecture and home building. Regardless, the whole series is wonderful. Acting is great, a beautiful love story (eventually), family drama, abuse, forgiveness, this series has it all.

*You will need the Masterpiece subscription on Amazon to watch but it’s so worth it.

Admire -

Atelier SLC

I’m admittedly a little biased towards Malinda (Desert Rose Jewelry) as she is my cousin-in-law, but I went in her store Atelier, which she owns with Olivia (Innerspacism) and was blown away by their talents as both artisans and buyers. Everything was handmade, vintage, unique. Totally our jam.

BUY -

Crate & Barrel Sola White Guest Towel

Having guests stay with you for the holidays? Refresh your hand towels - this option from Crate & Barrel is our favorite.
