Since we have been busy working on our Dutch Fields install this week, we have installations on our minds! Installation weeks, as well as the weeks leading up to them, are always super busy. There’s a lot to do to make sure that everything is coordinated and that everything runs smoothly. However, with the right planning and preparation, things can go off without any major hiccups. This week for Good to Know, we’re talking all things installation, planning, and our tried and true installation kit!

We generally work with clients from the beginning of their new build or renovation, so completing a project is typically more than a year in the making. There is so much excitement and anticipation from our team to see everything come together! Once the construction plans are finalized and all of the major furniture has been ordered, there are still a bunch of small tasks to take care of.

Two months before a project is completed, as construction teams are nearing completion on the build, our team is ordering pillows and other home accessories. Our lead stylist, Marcie, spends hours finding the perfect baskets and planters, and other decorative items. During this time, we are also working on tracking all of the items to make sure that everything is en-route, and that nothing is arriving damaged.

One month before the project is done, we are ordering mattresses, towels, pillow inserts, decorative books, and throw blankets. All of the furniture plans are finalized and approved by the client. At this point, we also book movers and handy-men for the big day!

Two weeks before, our team is busy making sure that everything is arriving properly, and tracking down anything that hasn’t come yet. We are also making sure that all of the window treatments are getting installed and are looking good. Plus, we’re working on getting last minute items like lightbulbs, cleaning supplies, and toilet paper.

In the week before our installation begins, we are working to make sure that everything is completed. Last minute coordinating with the movers and clients, plus any final accessory ordering is happening. We also check our installation kit to make sure that everything is ready to go.

HERE ARE THE THINGS WE INCLUDE IN OUR INSTALLATION KIT:

A lot of these items are self-explanatory, but they really are things we can’t live without.

CLEANING SUPPLIES

HOME IMPROVEMENT ITEMS

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Snacks and Water - Our team is partial to Red Vines and Diet Coke.

  • Mechanical Pencils

  • Bandaids

  • Pain Relief (Ibuprofen, Aspirin, etc)

  • Phone Charger - Someone’s phone always dies!

  • Sharpie Pens

  • A cart to carry everything. We recommend this one. It’s not cute or anything, but it’ll get the job done and it won’t break the bank.

On the big day, we pack up our installation kit, as well as any last minute client accessories. Handy-men build furniture and hang mirrors, and then we get to work!
