Good To Know: Updating Your Home for Summer
We often get questions about how to transition the decor in your home from season to season. Here are a few of our favorite ways to lighten and brighten your spaces for summer.
Florals & Plants
During the summer months, the life that is blooming outside makes it a little easier to enjoy the same beauty inside. If you don’t have your own garden to clip from, flowers are typically less expensive during the spring and summer months.
It’s also a great time to find an indoor plant or two that you’d love to add to your home. Check out some of our favorite, easy to care for indoor plants here.
Art
Try adding art that depicts scenes that evoke summer: the beach or lake, a green field, flowers, blue skies.
Natural woven materials & accessories
Baskets, baskets & more baskets
We always love to reach for a basket while decorating, and what better time than summer to adorn your home with natural materials. We’ve added a few of our favorite summery baskets below, and you can see all of our favorite baskets here.
Textiles
Linen - This light and airy fabric is synonymous with the warmer months. Linen is beautiful, but also durable, so you can easily incorporate it in your pillows and blankets.
Stripes
Pillows are a great way to change up your design and styling from season to season. For summer, consider adding stripes to the mix. The nautical nod will definitely create a summery vibe.
More florals
Everyone has their own preference as far as florals go. Whether you prefer subtle tones or bright hues, small and structured or big and bold, a floral pattern will bring those beautiful summer blooms indoors.
Color
For color, just add blue. We’re kidding, sort of. Between summer’s expansive blue skies and people’s draw to water, blue definitely signals summer for many. Warm pastels and bright hues can also help make your interiors feel more suited for the summer months.
