Good To Know: Marianne’s Build Paint Colors

We hope that everyone is staying safe and well! In an effort to maintain some sense of normalcy, we decided to think about something other than coronavirus for today. Please note, this blog post has some pictures from my home, but due to the virus, we haven’t been able to have a full shoot yet, so we had to source some as well.

If you read our blue paint blog post, you know that we get a ton of questions about the paint colors that we choose. We completely understand why, as a paint color can tie design elements together, and can truly set the tone of a space. While we can share our favorite individual paint colors, we’ve never been able to share a full project’s paint colors before. Our clients are paying for that information, and that is proprietary to each project. However, we have unique opportunity to be able to share whatever we want from my home build, so we’re going to do just that! Today for Good to Know, we’re sharing all of the paint colors from my home, including our favorite sheens.

FARROW AND BALL SCHOOL HOUSE WHITE

This soft off-white is such a classic paint color, and is by far the most used in my home. We used it for the trim throughout most of the house, as well as ceilings, the kitchen, living room, and all the bedrooms. Our favorite sheens for this color were semi-gloss and eggshell, but we also used flat for the ceilings.

FARROW AND BALL SHADED WHITE

We like refer to this color as “greige,” although Farrow & Ball calls it “grey beige.” It’s very soft, and is neither too warm or too cool. Plus, it’s super versatile, so it can be easily incorporated throughout a home. We utilized this paint color in the entryway, and on all of the staircases, in our upstairs living room, as well as in our work out room. Our most used sheens were semi-gloss and eggshell.

FARROW AND BALL RAILINGS

This paint, which we mentioned in our favorite blues post, is a soft black with blue undertones. We used this color in multiple bathrooms throughout the home, as well as to emphasize details. For sheens, we primarily utilized flat and semi-gloss.

FARROW & BALL DE NIMES

Another one from our blues post, De Nimes is one of our all-time favorite paint colors. This color was used in our laundry room to accent details like the trim and the peg rail that we installed. We used this paint with a semi-gloss sheen.

FARROW AND BALL LAMP ROOM GRAY

A very traditional and timeless gray, we primarily used this paint color in a room meant for calm contemplation, the library! In that room, the walls, trim, bookshelves, and ceiling all were treated with this color, with the walls and ceiling having an eggshell sheen and everything else getting semi-gloss.

FARROW AND BALL OFF BLACK

One of Farrow & Ball’s original colors, this mild black is, in their words, a “well-loved classic.” We used this color for accents like our dining room doors, as well as our kid’s music and crafting room in semi-gloss and eggshell.

BENJAMIN MOORE COLLINGWOOD

Benjamin Moore’s Collingwood is the other “greige” color that we used in my home. It’s one of their signature colors, and we utilized it in our master bathroom, with the primary paint being eggshell, and the trim being semi-gloss.

FARROW & BALL SMOKED TROUT

We utilized this warm mushroom color in our basement bathroom, and and paired it with Farrow & Ball Railings and School House White, so as not to overwhelm the space. We used this paint color with an eggshell sheen.

FARROW & BALL BALL GREEN

This silvery green was perfect for our guest bathroom, where we used it with an eggshell sheen.
